Already adept at playing a sneaky protagonist who always lands on his feet, Kevin Spacey at long last will play an actual cat in Barry Sonnenfeld’s Nine Lives. According to The Wrap, Spacey will star as a workaholic businessman who, through some kind of accident, finds himself trapped in the body of a feline. Presumably, this will keep Spacey away from the office and force him to spend more quality time with his family, as well as with his sock drawer and a box filled with newspapers.
Sonnenfeld described the film with three adjectives of ascending importance: “Funny, emotional, and commercial.” After all, who wouldn’t pay to see Kevin Spacey Cat, who surely will usurp Grumpy Cat as our culture’s most beloved sarcastic feline? We sure would, if only to bolster our assessment that Spacey should try harder.
