Kid Cudi checks into rehab for depression

ABC News reports that rapper, actor, and former Comedy Bang! Bang! bandleader Kid Cudi has checked into rehab for anxiety and depression. The Cleveland native, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, made the announcement Tuesday night on his Facebook page.

In his missive, Kid Cudi indicates that he’s checked himself into rehab for “depression and suicidal urges,” writing “my anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember and I never leave the house because of it. I can’t make new friends because of it. I don’t trust anyone because of it and I’m tired of being held back in my life. I deserve to have peace. I deserve to be happy and smiling. Why not me?”

The Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven artist cited personal issues when he canceled the accompanying tour last December, saying he needed time to “regroup.” But he reassures fans that his sixth studio album, Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’, is “still on the way.”
