Kiefer Sutherland might be back to torture us all on the new 24
After years of shouting at, shooting near, and just generally climbing all over the President of the United States, Kiefer Sutherland has finally gotten the job himself. But just because he’s now the head of state on ABC’s Designated Survivor—where he plays a low-ranking Cabinet member who’s suddenly thrust into the presidency after one of those terrorist attacks he used to spend his days stopping takes out everybody at the State Of The Union address—it apparently might not preclude him from showing up on the new 24.
That’s according to Deadline, which quotes 24: Legacy producer Howard Gordon as saying that Sutherland “hasn’t ruled out” bringing Jack Bauer back to assist, challenge, or—if we’re being honest here—probably torture new protagonist Corey Hawkins on the show. Sutherland is, after all, an executive producer on the revival series, and although he’s pretty busy at the moment, Gordon said there’s still interest in having him back. “The character feels alive,” the executive producer said, which is more than you can say for most of the people Jack Bauer ran into over the years. And there’s apparently still interest in bringing him back, either on the new show or in one of the long-rumored movie projects that have surrounded the franchise for years.
