Kill The Messenger lines up impressive cast behind Jeremy Renner
Back in Feburary, Jeremy Renner signed up to headline director Michael Cuesta's Kill The Messenger, a biopic of San Jose Mercury-News reporter Gary Webb and his exposing of the CIA cocaine dealing operation that funded the Contras in Nicaragua during the 1980s. After running the story, Webb was targeted by a CIA smear campaign.
The film has become especially timely since then, given Edward Snowden's exposure of NSA spying programs. And since Renner signed up, the movie has also acquired a sprawling cast to support him, including Andy Garcia, Tim Blake Nelson, Robert Patrick, Oliver Platt, Michael Sheen, Paz Vega, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Michael Kenneth Williams. As a result, no more movies will be filmed this year, as all of the actors in Hollywood are taken.
