Kim Kardashian West and Chrissy Teigen are starting an internet book club
Say what you will about them, but Kim Kardashian West and Chrissy Teigen have emerged as two of the more socially conscious celebrities out there. And their latest mission is to get more people to read. Along with celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin, the trio is launching a book club, and they’re starting with Betty Eadie’s 1992 book Embraced By The Light. The book centers on Eadie’s near-death experience after being declared clinically dead while recovering from surgery.
The book has apparently been a favorite of Kardashian West’s for a while now. Her sister Kourtney Kardashian tweeted that Kim has been raving about it for 15 years. And Kardashian West’s passion seems to have been stoked last week when she got the chance to actually chat with Eadie about her experience.
The book club is set to start on Monday, and Kardashian West and Teigen have been emphasizing that all you need to do to join their virtual club is to read the book.
But never one to miss a branding opportunity, Kardashian West is also working on a way to build the book club into her official Kim Kardashian West app.
Perhaps one day they’ll even join forces with Emma Watson, who has been running her own celebrity feminist book club (and whimsically leaving books on the London tube) since early last year. There’s no word yet on whether Kardashian West’s book of selfies will be one of the book club’s selections.
