Kim's rough patch gets worse on Better Call Saul
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Monday, August 27. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
Better Call Saul (AMC, 9 p.m.): Last week, in the continuing saga of Jimmy McGill, Gale Boetticher (David Costabile) showed up to test some meth, but it’s really Kim who ended up being tested (“Every relationship on this show is laced with rat poison,” as our own Donna Bowman wrote of the episode.) This week’s episode seems likely to continue that trend. Kim deserves nice things! Give Kim nice things, Better Call Saul. If nothing else, expect Donna to say nice things about the latest in an unsurprisingly excellent season.
Regular coverage
Lodge 49 (AMC, 10 p.m.)
Wild card
The Good Place (NBC): Holy motherforking shirtballs, we are exactly one month away from the return of one of the best shows on television. Are you, dear Reader, one of the people who haven’t yet made the acquaintance of Eleanor Shellstrop, Chidi Anagonye, Tahani Al-Jamil, and Jason Mendoza? Have you still not seen Ted Danson unleash the best, most climactic smile in the history of television? Is not-a-girl, not-a-robot Janet still unknown to you? You’ve got one month.
And hey, if you tear through all of season one in one day (and you really might), never fear: Season two arrives on Netflix tomorrow.
