Kozelek and Deal hit the books
Not content to merely rock, veteran indie-types Mark Kozelek (of Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon) and Kelley Deal (of The Breeders) are readying books. Kozelek's, titled Nights Of Passed Over, will collect many of the songwriter's lyrics from both his bands as well as his solo recordings; previously released in Portugal in an extremely limited edition in 2002, the new one will be a numbered, 256-page hardcover, and is set for release on April 1–the same date Sun Kil Moon's new album, April, is due. The book itself will come with a 12-song CD of Kozelek live tracks and rarities.
Meanwhile Deal–whose sporadically active The Breeders will release their new album, Mountain Battles, on April 8–is writing Bags That Rock: Knitting On The Road With Kelley Deal. The book, due this October, is a behind-the-scenes look at Deal's "cool rock 'n' roll world and her knitted bag obsession." Deal's (ahem) way with needles has previously landed her on DIY Network's Knitty Gritty show.
