First announced as "in the works" in 2004, the Kraftwerk CD box set 12345678 The Catalogue finally has a release date: October 6th, 2009. The set will contain remastered versions of eight Kraftwerk LPs: Autobahn, Radio-Activity, Trans Europe Express, The Man Machine, Tour De France (2003), Computer World, Techno Pop and The Mix. The latter three will only be available in the box, though the first five will also be available separately, on CD, on vinyl, and as digital downloads. Unlike other big recent career-spanning collections (Neil Young and The Beatles, to name two), The Catalogue doesn't include any rarities or video content. And Kraftwerk's pre-Autobahn output will remain hard to find outside the grey market for the near future. Still, this project has been in the works for a long time, and should be welcomed by fans and neophytes alike.
