Kris Kross back to make you jump, jump, buy tickets out of nostalgia, jump, jump
Kris Kross—the group best known for its backward clothes and 1992 single “Jump”—is reuniting, thus bringing ’90s nostalgia to a frightening and monstrous head. And yes, the duo made up of Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly and Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith, apparently still wears its pants backward from time to time, because going to the bathroom without a lot of extra effort is still wiggity wiggity wack.
The Chrises, first discovered by an 18-year-old Jermaine Dupri in an Atlanta shopping mall, are getting back together to celebrate 20 years of Dupri’s label, So So Def. The group’s reunion performance—which will hopefully not just consist of one, 45-minute-long version of “Jump”—will commence February 23 in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre, where the duo will be joined by former labelmates Da Brat, Bow Wow, and Jagged Edge.
Kris Kross’ last No. 1 single, “Tonite’s Tha Night,” topped the charts in 1995, though the group’s been mulling a comeback—and a possible fourth album—for years now.
