Kristen Bell, Milo Ventimiglia, and some time travelers star in NBC’s new promo trailers
ABC went promo crazy yesterday, releasing little previews of all the new shows it’s using to make us forget about all of the old shows it cancelled last week, and now NBC has joined in the fun with some promos of its own. There aren’t as many as there was for ABC, but NBC didn’t pull a Red Wedding on its lineup and stab a bunch of shows in the gut like ABC did, so it has fewer holes to fill. Anyway, the trailers are for The Good Place (which you can see above), Timeless (which you can see below), and This Is Us (which you can see below that).
The Good Place (which comes from Parks And Recreation’s Mike Schur) stars Kristen Bell as a woman who dies and wakes up in—ahem—The Good Place thanks to her lifetime of helping people. As it turns out, though, Bell isn’t who the Good Place people (including Ted Danson) think she is, much to the surprise of her supposed soulmate.
Timeless comes from Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan, and it’s sort of a Blacklist-y take on The CW’s Legends Of Tomorrow. Instead of superheroes chasing an immortal tyrant, it’s got government agents trying to prevent a bad guy from…blowing up the Hindenburg? The trailer is a little vague on the details.
Finally, This Is Us is a more traditional drama about people who share the same birthday. It goes further than that, but the basic point is that it’s about people overcoming issues and also one of the people is Milo Ventimiglia from Gilmore Girls. For some viewers, that’s the only part that matters.
