Kristen Stewart to make her directorial debut with drama that has "the best fucking female role"

Speaking at Cannes, Kristen Stewart has announced that she’s planning to make her directorial debut with an adaptation of The Chronology Of Water, a 2011 memoir written by Lidia Yuknavitch. Stewart has a lot of positive things to say about Yuknavitch, saying “she’s in my blood” and that “started this race without any sense of competition” the first time they met, so adapting her story into a movie is a really big deal to Stewart. She says she’s going to film the movie this summer, but before that she’s going to finish the screenplay, “hire a really spectacular actor” to star, and then she’s going to “write the best fucking female role.”

IndieWire says the original memoir is about the “extreme grief on a young woman’s developing sexuality that some define as untraditional because of her attraction to both men and women” and the “survival that finally comes in the shape of love and motherhood.”
