L.A. to honor Adam West by firing up the Bat-Signal

The City of Los Angeles will perform a highly visible tribute to Batman star Adam West tomorrow night, booting up the Bat-Signal as a way of saying farewell to the veteran actor. The giant lamp will be aimed at the tower of L.A.’s City Hall at 9 p.m., as part of an event honoring the actor, who died last Friday.

Fans (including a number of celebrities and co-workers) have been effusive in their praise for West, calling him “My Batman,” and praising his comic timing and persistent good nature. His family released a statement last weekend, when news of his death was breaking: “Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero.”
