La La Land soundtrack is outselling just about everything else on vinyl

Given how deeply La La Land is steeped in nostalgia, it’s only fitting that a lot of people are purchasing the vinyl version of the soundtrack. Just picture all those starry-eyed dreamers now spinning Justin Hurwitz’s score, wondering if they’ll ever engage in a passionate romance that’s doomed to fail when they pursue their goals. Per Nielsen Music, La La Land sold 25,000 units in the U.S. on vinyl during the first quarter of 2017—more than any other release in that format. The other highest selling records were Bob Marley and The Wailers Legend and Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black, which each sold 16,000 copies.

As for the other data Nielsen provided, well, we’ve got to hand it to Ed Sheeran, who has successfully brainwashed enough listeners to make Divide the top-selling album of the year so far.
