Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born remake will sing at Warner Bros.
The stars have most certainly not lost their glitter for Warner Bros. Deadline reports that the studio has officially said yes to the A Star Is Born remake starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who will also direct. The project, which once had Clint Eastwood attached, is a long-gestating one. At multiple points in its journey, Beyoncé was reportedly sought out to lead the cast. However, since Lady Gaga’s been attempting some sort of Judy Garland cosplay for the last couple of years, it makes sense that she ultimately landed the part. She and Cooper will play the central newcomer-veteran couple embodied by Garland and James Mason in 1954 and Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in 1976. It’s unclear just how modern Cooper’s take on the story is going to be. Our personal hope is just that Gaga’s character is named Esther, as she was in the previous two incarnations of this story.
According to Deadline, Gaga will also perform new music, which she will also write on her quest to claim the Oscar that was stolen from her this year by Sam Smith and his Bond theme. Production on A Star Is Born will start in 2017.
