Lady Gaga and Metallica are teaming up to play the Grammys
Lady Gaga is having a heck of a week, leveraging the hype around her recent Super Bowl performance into a world tour, new music videos, an appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and the rise of Satan in our modern age. Now, Variety reports that Gaga will be performing at the Grammys later this year, apparently teaming up with Metallica for an exercise in musical contrasts and hell on earth.
Gaga performed at last year’s ceremony—where she won an award for her collaboration with Tony Bennett, Cheek To Cheek—as part of a tribute to David Bowie. Of course, Bowie covers and Bennett crooning are a far cry from Metallica, whose 2016 album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct found the band in typical thrashing form, netting a nomination of its own for lead-off single “Hardwired.” Variety doesn’t have any details on what sort of show Gaga and the boys are expecting to play, or how exactly it’ll make Alex Jones and his listeners mad. Meanwhile, Adele, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Chance the Rapper, Little Big Town, Sturgill Simpson, The Weeknd, and more are all expected to play at the ceremony this Sunday, February 12.
