Lady Gaga drops new single after Coachella headlining performance

After stepping up to replace Beyoncé a little over a month ago, Lady Gaga finally got to put on her headlining set at Coachella last night. According to Pitchfork, she put on the predictable selection of hits and newer songs off of her recent album Joanne, but she also decided to perform a new song and then promptly announced that it would be released immediately. The song is called “The Cure,” but based on the 30-second preview versions of the song that you can hear on your preferred music delivery service, it doesn’t seem to be about the Robert Smith band. Gaga songs are often about self-expression and finding your truth, though, so maybe it can be about the band if you want it to be.

You can check out the song and determine whether or not it’s about the band for yourself on Spotify, iTunes, and Tidal, and you can also hear it below.
