Lady Gaga to play Donatella Versace on American Crime Story
Lady Gaga is making the jump from American Horror over to American Crime, with US Weekly reporting that the celebrated chanteuse will be appearing on the third season of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story. Gaga—who recently released her latest album, Joanne, to positive reviews—will play Donatella Versace, the sister and successor of fashion designer Gianni Versace, the man whose murder is at the center of the show’s latest true crime tale.
Gaga started working with Murphy on American Horror Story: Hotel, where she played the glitzy spider at the center of the titular structure’s decadent web. She’s also appeared on the show’s current Roanoke season, cementing her place as the latest cog in Murphy’s unstoppable genre machine.
American Crime Story season three will presumably air some time in 2018, and will focus on Versace’s 1997 assassination by serial killer Andrew Cunanan; in the meantime, the show’s second, Hurricane Katrina-themed season is expected to arrive next year.
