Lady Gaga will also sing the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl
Although it won’t bring her any closer to that EGOT, Lady Gaga has nevertheless deigned to sing the national anthem at Super Bowl 50 this weekend, according to Variety. By belting out ”The Star-Spangled Banner” for thousands of football fans at Levi’s Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area—and millions of football fans around the world—Gaga joins an elite club that also includes such legendary performers as Cher, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, and, uh, Kathie Lee Gifford. (Roseanne only got to shriek at a regular old Padres game.) She also joins a roster of halftime performers that (officially) includes former national anthem singer Beyoncé and unlikely national anthem candidates Coldplay.
Super Bowl 50 will take place this coming Sunday, February 7, a date that anyone who cares about any aspect of the game besides watching Lady Gaga sing the national anthem probably already knows. The following week, she’ll perform a musical tribute to David Bowie at this year’s Grammys, which anyone who really cares about seeing Lady Gaga perform the national anthem probably already knows.
