Lady Gaga will be deposed in Dr. Luke’s lawsuit against Kesha
Despite the best efforts of her lawyers, Lady Gaga is getting dragged into the defamation lawsuit Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald has filed against Kesha. Gottwald’s lawyers subpoenaed Lady Gaga earlier this year after she’d already supplied them with a written statement about some text exchange(s) she had with Kesha, who, after losing repeated legal battles against Gottwald, was finally able to release her third album. But the statement had too many “redacted” items, hence the subpoena. Gaga’s lawyers issued a statement last month indicating she’d provided all the info she had while also noting that the record producer, whom Kesha alleged had emotionally and sexually abused her, was “attempting to manipulate the truth and draw press attention to their case by exaggerating Lady Gaga’s role and falsely accusing her of dodging reasonable requests.”
But Variety now reports that Lady Gaga has agreed to be deposed some time in September. The texts to and from Kesha will still be the topics of conversation, which an insider tells Variety Gottwald’s team believes “could work in Luke’s favor.”
