Lana Del Rey covers Nirvana, does about as good of a job of that as can be expected

Lana Del Rey hasn’t won many fans by being particularly deep or original, and the singer’s probably not going to win any more after her performance last night in Sydney, Australia. During her show at the Enmore Theater, the “Blue Jeans” singer performed a cover of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” that was more of a lurking dirge than an inspired tribute to the defunct group and its late singer. In a video posted by a fan on YouTube, the singer appears to be stationed behind some sort of shrubbery and clad in a lacy pink dress, as she caterwauls about eating your cancer when it turns black and all of her new complaints. Unfortunately, the video cuts off mid-song, but not before Del Rey really reaches for a high note and then walks into the audience to make everyone even more uncomfortable.
