Larry David's upcoming HBO movie has a very Larry David-esque plot

While Larry David starring in a mostly improvised HBO comedy where he suffers various indignities and reacts neurotically already sounds plenty familiar, it turns out that his upcoming collaboration with director Greg Mottola is even more comfortably within his squeaky wheelhouse. The no-longer-shrouded-in-secrecy project finds David playing a guy who has a falling out with his business partner (presumably played by co-star Jon Hamm) over an electric car, then becomes consumed by anger and jealousy when it turns a huge profit—a storyline that’s an old Larry David favorite, most notably forming the basis of his 1998 film Sour Grapes, as well as the David-produced Jack Black/Ben Stiller movie Envy. The L.A. Times also reports that David will play an easily rankled guy who has a lot of nitpicking ideas about the way society should conduct itself, but that probably didn’t need to be said.
