Larry Wilmore is Black On The Air with a new podcast
Outside of a few talk-show appearances—and one righteous instance of telling someone who needs to go fuck himself to kindly do so—we haven’t seen or heard much from Larry Wilmore since The Nightly Show went off the air last year. (He’s been busier behind the scenes, operating under a deal with ABC Studios and helping to shepherd Issa Rae’s Insecure to air on HBO.) But for those of you who’ve been missing out on Wilmore’s sardonic rage, you’re in luck, because he’s just announced that he’s coming back to the digital airwaves later this week.
Wilmore’s new podcast, Black On The Air, will kick off this Thursday, part of Bill Simmons’ The Ringer network of shows. The show’s format sounds a lot like The Nightly Show, with Wilmore offering up his take on the issues of the day before diving into interviews with guests, including legendary TV producer Norman Lear, Bernie Sanders, and Neil DeGrasse Tyson. The Ringer posted a brief teaser for the show today, featuring Simmons and and his new host bantering over the show’s name, in case you’re wondering what Larry Wilmore sounds like nestled deep inside his pod.
