Lars Ulrich quits cocaine with help from Noel Gallagher
It's been kind of a slow news week, but the good old reliable NME, as usual, has an eye-catching headline: "METALLICA INSPIRED TO GIVE UP COCAINE BY OASIS." Well, not Metallica as a whole, as it turns out. Just Lars. And it wasn't all of Oasis doing the inspiring either. And, now that we get down to it, it's not really NME's story. It comes from an interview with The Quietus wherein drummer Lars Ulrich drops this semi-bombshell:
A couple of years ago I was like, 'You know? Enough of this. I don't need it'. It was literally something that happened one morning, like 'Y'know? Fuck that'. I was very impressed with Noel Gallagher: as you know, I'm an Oasis fanatic, and Noel was like [adopts stentorian tone] 'You know what? No more cocaine!' and I thought, 'If he can do it, everybody else can do it'.
So there you have it: Noel Gallagher, role model.
