Laura Linney to star in Jason Bateman’s Netflix crime drama

Three-time Oscar nominee, John Adams highlight, and occasional Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star Laura Linney has joined the cast of Netflix’s new show Ozark, Deadline reports. Linney will play Wendy, the wife of producer-director Jason Bateman’s character Marty, a Chicago financial planner who ends up getting transferred to the titular geologic highland region, and then quickly embroiled in some good ol’ backwoods drug running. Netflix picked the show up in February, and is expected to air it some time in 2017.

Besides acting as Da Chief to Michael Bay’s adolescent kung-fu reptiles in the recent TMNT: Out Of The Shadows, Linney’s been keeping busy lately, appearing on a recent episode of Inside Amy Schumer, and recently wrapping filming on Clint Eastwood’s Sully. Ozark will be her first regular TV gig since The Big C went off the air in 2013, and will hopefully end less inevitably tragically for her than the Showtime-based cancer series did.
