Laurence Fishburne and Thomas Jane have a standoff in the trailer for Standoff

Apparently, one of the hardest things to learn when you’re an assassin is that you never take off your balaclava until you know for sure that everyone around you is dead. That’s the tough lesson that Laurence Fishburne’s character learns in the first few seconds of this trailer for Standoff, a new film directed by Last House On The Left screenwriter Adam Alleca. As it turns out, a precocious little girl not only saw Fishburne execute a bunch of people at a funeral, she also got a picture of his face. That means that if he doesn’t kill her and protect his identity, he’ll get a bad performance review at his next assassin meeting. Luckily for the little girl, an especially scruffy Thomas Jane lives nearby, and he happens to be an ex-soldier wrestling with some demons. Fishburne shows up at Jane’s house, Jane pledges to protect the girl, and a standoff ensues. Hey, that’s the name of the movie!

Standoff will premiere on DirecTV on January 14 before hitting theaters and other On Demand services on February 12.
