Laurence Fishburne has seen enough charred corpses, is leaving CSI
In the wake of Lisa Edelstein’s exit from House and Christopher Meloni’s signing off of Law And Order: SVU, the world of network procedurals has been dealt another blow with Laurence Fishburne announcing that he is leaving CSI after two and a half seasons. Of course, unlike those other two, Fishburne’s role was never expected to last long: He was brought in as a celebrity saving grace in the wake of William Petersen, and reportedly everyone just assumed he’d be leaving sooner than later because “it’s Laurence Fishburne,” which sounds like an awesome excuse to have. Still, like the dying off of the honeybee, perhaps we should be looking at the departure of stalwart actors from their series roles as some sort of apocalyptic omen? What do they know that we don’t? Has anyone on the West Coast seen any giant hovercrafts lately?
