For fans of films where a killer gets pulled out of retirement to kill some more, the news that Keanu Reeves’ John Wick would return for a sequel was a pretty big deal. Now it looks like fans of simulated realities are in for a treat, too: Gothamist snapped some photos of Reeves’ The Matrix castmate Laurence Fishburne on the set of John Wick 2 in Brooklyn.
A quick refresher for those that might have plugged into a different reality since The Matrix Revolutions: Reeves and Fishburne starred in a trilogy of highly popular sci-fi films together at the turn of the century. In these films, their characters were both pretty good at kung fu, and one of them dodged and/or stopped bullets in midair on occasion. Perhaps their most famous scene together came in the original Matrix, when Fishburne’s Morpheus presented Reeves’ Neo with a blue pill and red pill, and Neo debated briefly over which would make him trip harder.
Anyway, now that it looks like Fishburne will have at least a small part in John Wick 2, hopefully his character gets a few of the 152 kills that by law Wick has to pack into the sequel. (That’s double the first film’s 76.) Leave Common to Wick though. He’ll probably be the one that kills a puppy in this chapter.
