Law & Order: SVU's Mariska Hargitay seeks justice in the documentary I Am Evidence
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Monday, April 16. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
I Am Evidence (HBO, 8 p.m.): We realize we’re suggesting starting off your week on a rough note, but while we regret not finding a new way to pun on Lucifer’s antics in a headline, this eye-opening documentary from directors Trish Adlesic and Geeta Gandbhir and Law & Order: Special Victim Unit’s Mariska Hargitay deserves your time. The 90-minute film, which premieres tonight on HBO, exposes the many ways in which the criminal justice system fails sexual assault survivors, from the mishandling of evidence—the thousands of untested rape kits in Detroit that made national news are just the tip of the depressing iceberg—to the callous treatment of any victims with the fortitude to seek out legal recourse. You can take the edge off by watching more badass women do battle in the Supergirl spring premiere and a new episode of iZombie.
Supergirl (The CW, 8 p.m.), spring premiere: Kara (Melissa Benoist) learns something new about the Worldkillers, but all we can think about is the fact that Laurie Metcalf is going to National City. In “Schott Through The Heart,” she plays Winn’s (Jeremy Jordan) estranged mother. No word on whether there’ll be any Dave Matthews tunes.
Regular coverage
Steven Universe (Cartoon Network, 7:30 p.m.)
Lucifer (Fox, 8 p.m.)
The Terror (AMC, 9 p.m.)
iZombie (The CW, 9 p.m.)
UnREAL (Lifetime, 10:02 p.m.)
Wild card
Natalie Wood: An American Murder Mystery (ID, 10 p.m.): This is mostly a reminder for Gwen Ihnat, who’s been doing her own armchair sleuthing regarding the death of Natalie Wood.
