Leah Remini to star on NBC’s gender-swapped What About Bob? series

According to Deadline, Leah Remini and British actress Jessica Gunning will star in What About Barb?, NBC’s gender-swapped TV adaptation of Frank Oz’s What About Bob? from 1991. The original film starred Richard Dreyfuss as a psychiatrist who has to deal with frustrating intrusions from one of his patients (Bill Murray’s Bob) while on vacation. In the TV version, Remini will play the psychiatrist—sort of echoing her “straight man” role from King Of Queens—with Gunning playing Barb, the annoying and attention-seeking patient. It doesn’t sound like any roles other than that have been cast yet, including Remini’s family members.

What About Barb? is still in the pilot stage, so NBC hasn’t given it a proper series order just yet.
