Learn to make Zucchini Motherfucker and other commenter-friendly dishes in To First Man: An A.V. Club Cookbook

Sure, being spoofed on The Simpsons gave us fine folks here at The A.V. Club the validation and attention we’ve desperately craved all our lives. But you’ve never really arrived culturally until your life’s work has been lovingly lampooned via a fake cookbook.

In a heroic act of misplaced creativity, Captain Dada has uploaded To First Man: An A.V. Club Cookbook, a fake recipe collection that doubles as an obsessive, inspired compendium of A.V. Club commenter in-jokes, memes, and obsessions. It features such signature dishes as the Chloe Sevigne Layer Dip, Cancer Eggs, Manic Pixie Dream Gyros, and perhaps most irresistibly, Zucchini Motherfucker.

To First Man is a tribute to the vitality and community that has developed here at the site, and it’s a remarkably sustained piece of satire that elevates AVC commenter in-jokes to the level of art, or at least nifty entertainment. (Though some of the digs are more cutting than others. We’d really like to think the page devoted to Genevieve Krispies is affectionate.) So check it out. If history has taught us anything, it’s that the only thing you fine folks like reading about more than that television show Community is yourselves and the world you have created, with just a little help from us.
