Lee Daniels is making a hip-hop drama for Fox
The Butler director Lee Daniels is moving to television, with a new drama in the works he's created along with Butler writer Danny Strong. The series concerns a family-run hip-hop empire—a concept that sparked a bidding war among the broadcast networks, until Fox finally won. In a bid for hip-hop authenticity, presumably the as-yet-untitled show will be a half-hour drama that's padded out to an hour with lame skits and unnecessary remixes.
