Lena Dunham is getting into the lucrative e-newsletter business
Lena Dunham is getting into the lucrative world of e-mail newsletters. The Girls star has teamed up with the show’s executive producer, Jenni Konner, for Lenny, a newsletter that Dunham says will try and reach “an army of like-minded intellectually curious women and the people who love them, who want to bring change but also want to know, like, where to buy the best tube top for summer that isn’t going to cost your entire paycheck.” Dunham and Konner are funding the project themselves for now, and readers can subscribe over at the Lenny site.
In an interview with BuzzFeed, Dunham said she hopes Lenny will help give women a place to have quiet, thoughtful discussions about feminism, workplace issues, and gender dynamics, saying “Women spend so much time trying to align themselves with an image in the media that they can’t match that their hostility towards themselves and others becomes overwhelming.” With Lenny, Dunham hopes to help both create and encourage a community of politically active young feminists, something that will no doubt come in handy around election season.
Lenny launches in September.
