Several years after the project was first in the works, Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley may have found a big-name star: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to star in the film, which is about a con man working at a carnival who tries to use a woman’s brilliant mentalist trick to become rich and famous. Unfortunately, as is the case with most cinematic con men, it doesn’t end up working out super well for him. If he takes the gig, this and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood will be DiCaprio’s first starring roles since he finally won that damn Oscar for The Revenant way back in 2015.

The script for Nightmare Alley was written by Del Toro and Kim Morgan, and—like the 1947 version—it’s based on the novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham.
