Leonardo DiCaprio re-teaming for some Conquest with The Revenant screenwriter
Unwilling to learn the lessons of diligent, unforgiving vengeance that kept his character alive in The Revenant, Leonardo DiCaprio is teaming back up with the guy who set him up to be viciously savaged by a bear: screenwriter Mark L. Smith. Deadline is reporting that Paramount has lined the actor and writer back up for a new movie titled Conquest, about which pretty much nothing else is known. (Although, going by the title, it doesn’t sound like this will be the tender-feelings-and-soft-focus-camera-work “cooldown movie” DiCaprio might be looking for after Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s grueling-sounding shoot.)
Besides Conquest, which is still super early in development, DiCaprio has a couple of projects already lined up at the moment; most prominently, he’s expected to star in Martin Scorsese’s turn-of-the-century serial killer project, Devil In The White City. (The Titanic and Wolf Of Wall Street star is also expected to give a typically restrained performance as “guy who doesn’t even care if he gets an Oscar, so it’s fine, really” at this year’s Academy Awards.)
