Leonardo DiCaprio to be mauled by a bear

After his F-bomb-filled role in The Wolf Of Wall Street, Leonardo DiCaprio has effectively grown out of his “cute American boy you fall in love with to spite your asshole upper-class parents” phase, and is now entering his “it’s okay if he gets mauled by a bear” phase. As reported by Deadline, DiCaprio will be celebrating this metamorphosis by starring in director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s film The Revenant, as a man who gets mauled by a bear.

The Revenant is based on the book of the same name by Michael Punke, telling the story of a fur trapper in the 1800s named Hugh Glass, who gets abandoned and robbed by his friends after a grizzly bear nearly kills him. According to Deadline, this leaves him “pissed as a bee-stung bear,” so he returns to get revenge on the men who double-crossed him—though not, oddly enough, on the bear who mauled him in the first place. Perhaps this is because DiCaprio ends up making a connection with the bear and uses it as a symbol to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies. Still, the movie isn’t called Bear-Man: Hugs Of Vengeance, so that probably doesn’t happen.
