Let’s Be Cops director making a movie about jerks who get away with stuff
Fox, clearly as shocked as the rest of us by Let’s Be Cops’ budget-quadrupling financial success this summer, has started throwing projects at everyone involved, clearly hoping to strike gold with another project about immature guys who violate the rules that keep society functioning. We’ve already heard about Jake Johnson and co-writer Nick Thomas’ upcoming mob show, and now Luke Greenfield, the film’s director, has made a deal with the studio for another movie about dopey dudes who don’t have to pay for their crimes.
Greenfield’s planned thriller will center on a group of ne’er-do-well twentysomethings who escape the consequences of their various pranks and stunts by exploiting their government-employed parents’ diplomatic immunity. However, the characters’ willingness to take advantage of that famous tool of international diplomacy leads them into the dark side of international relations, and eventually to threats of treason, assassination, and possible terminal revocation by Danny Glover.
Mike Diliberti, screenwriter of 30 Minutes Or Less, the Citizen Kane of dumb-guys-trying-to-kill-each-other movies, is set to write.
