Let’s give the devil and The Gifted their due

Let’s give the devil and The Gifted their due

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Monday, October 2. All times are Eastern.

Top picks

The Gifted (Fox, 9 p.m.): Another day, another Marvel TV series, right? Well, not quite. Although The Gifted certainly features superpowered beings, they’re mostly messed-up kids who need someone to look out for them. Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker star as “ordinary” parents who go to extraordinary lengths to protect their mutant children from organizations like Sentinel Services, which, if you’ve read any X-Men comics or seen one of co-EP Bryan Singer’s films, you’ll recognize as a real threat. After packing his go-bag (which includes his laptop), Jesse Hassenger is ready to go on the run.

Lucifer (Fox, 8 p.m.): Someone must have rung a bell, because Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) now has wings. What will all that fine plumage mean for season three? Only time—and LaToya Ferguson—will tell.

Regular coverage

Me, Myself & I (CBS, 9:30 p.m.)

Wild card

Splash (SHO2, 9 p.m.): With Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell set to remake this quirky, fish—sorry, mermaid—out of water tale, we encourage you to watch the original, so you can picture the Magic Mike star attempting to make these underwater sounds.
