The 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards (NBC, 8 p.m.): Some watch the Golden Globes to see who wins. We get that. Awards can be fun. But us? We watch the Golden Globes because it’s the one where the celebrities get tipsy.
(A quick aside: Emma Thompson is marvelous.)
This year, we’ve got another reason to look forward to the proceedings—two reasons, actually. Their names are Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg. These ever-so-noice actors will serve as co-hosts in the Fey-Poehler tradition, lending two very different kinds of irreverent charm to an evening that already promises irreverence. Look for our coverage throughout the evening, and plenty of (possibly hungover) thoughts tomorrow.

Houdini’s Last Secrets (Science Channel, 10 p.m.): The recipe for this new Science Channel series seems to be this: Combine history, biography, and legend; whisk until smooth; pour into Mythbusters mold; and serve in four parts on Sundays at 10 p.m. Sounds pretty good to us.
George Hardeen, Houdini’s great nephew, will be joined by “magician and daredevil Lee Terbosic” and “master stunt builder Steve Wolf.” They’ll use letters, photographs, and personal scrapbooks to pull apart the science, the stunts, and the mythology.
