Let the record show that Elena Kagan was asked about Twilight (then burn the record)

Yesterday, the trudging formality of Elena Kagan’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing was briefly alleviated by the world’s most belabored Twilight joke, when Minnesota’s Sen. Amy Klobuchar offered Kagan a respite from being bludgeoned with compliments and adroitly dodging the usual questions over gun control and abortion, pausing the proceedings to ask whether she preferred Team Edward or Team Jacob—or in this case, “the vampire or the werewolf.” Please history books, when we commit this to record, let us forget that we ever asked a future Supreme Court justice about Twilight. (Although it’s too bad no one thought to ask Robert Bork whether he preferred Kirstie Alley or Shelley Long. It might have been the deciding factor.)
