Liam Gallagher’s first solo show will be a benefit for Manchester bombing victims
Liam Gallagher and his former band Oasis are inexorably linked with his hometown of Manchester, where a terrorist attack earlier this week at an Ariana Grande concert left 22 dead. Snd come next Tuesday, Gallagher will play his first ever solo gig as a benefit for victims of the bombing, Variety reports. The proceeds from the concert, set to take place at the O2 Ritz, will go to the Manchester Evening News’ fund for the British Red Cross. “I just knew I had to. I’m not in it for the money,” Gallagher told the MEN. “The gig was going to happen anyway, and we all have to do what we can. I want to try and help pick people up. People like me, doing what we do, it’s our duty to give people a good time.” After learning of the attack, Gallagher tweeted:
At a memorial for victims earlier this week, people gathered began singing Oasis’s “Don’t Look Back In Anger.” In anticipation of the release of his first solo album titled As You Were in October, Gallagher has also announced three other solo shows in London, Dublin, and Glasgow. He is set to make his North American solo debut in August.
