The new teaser for Empire is less than a minute long, but it debuts season two’s new song, “No Doubt About It,” by Jussie Smollett’s Jamal Lyon. Jamal follows in the steps of Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Austin Mahone, Havana Brown, and so many more by featuring Miami’s own Pitbull, who also appears in the promo, on his track. Cookie’s patch denim jacket returns, with Cookie declaring: “This is about us taking the empire.” Give Cookie what she wants or fear her wrath (or her shoe flying at your head). The song itself is just okay. But Empire can be pretty hit or miss on the music.
Pitbull is one of many upcoming guests for Empire’s second season, which will also include appearances from Zendaya, Oprah, Common, Chris Rock, Ludacris, Alicia Keys, and Lenny Kravitz—plus Mariah Carey, if Lee Daniels gets his way. But as a reminder, he’s very wary of stunt casting. Sure. And because no one should ever forget this character description: Here is your weekly reminder that Marisa Tomei will play a “lesbian billionaire.”
