Lily Collins will probably star in the new Evil Dead
In case the hiring of Diablo Cody to touch up the Evil Dead remake, or Bruce Campbell’s many assertions that the remake would not be a faithful copy featuring his character Ash weren’t enough to alert you, the Evil Dead remake will not be a faithful copy featuring Bruce Campbell’s character Ash, but will instead be the sort of Evil Dead remake you might expect from screenwriter Diablo Cody. In other words, it will center on a strong, most likely tart-tongued female protagonist, and that protagonist will most likely be played by Lily Collins.
As first reported by Bloody Disgusting (and confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter), an offer is out to Collins to star as Mia, a recovering drug addict who heads to a remote cabin with her friends in order to detox, only to have a run-in with a demonic force—a force that, naturally, everyone chalks up at first to Mia’s crazy drug talk. Collins, of course, has most recently starred in Tarsem Singh’s upcoming Snow White reimagining Mirror Mirror and also the Taylor Lautner thriller Abduction, so she has experience with both dubious reboots and working with the walking dead, har har. She is also Phil Collins’ daughter, completely apropos of nothing, except it’s sort of amusing. Kids in school probably called her “Sussudio,” right? Maybe she’ll get to channel some of that latent rage here.
