Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda bond and banter in the Grace And Frankie trailer
Netflix has released a new trailer for Grace And Frankie, its upcoming original sitcom starring Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda. The pair play two older women who must cope with radical change when their husbands, played by Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston, announce that they’re in love with each other and want to get married. Written by Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman, the show seems to be operating in the “We may be old, but we can still be sassy and sexy!” mold recently mined by The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
For the interested, here’s a random assortment of stuff you’ll see in the trailer for the show, which will be released in its 13-episode entirety on May 8: Lily Tomlin in a Ramones shirt, snarky jokes about plastic surgery, banter in abundance, Sam Waterston awkwardly blithering about the different meanings of the word “partner” for a homosexual man practicing law, and June Diane Raphael. Things you won’t see: Anyone dropping a Chandler Bing-worthy, “Could I be any more heartbroken by my husband’s shocking revelation?,” Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen engaging in sloppy, uninhibited French kissing, and, saddest of all, any hint that Dolly Parton is going to show up and turn this thing into the 9 To 5 reunion we’ve all been praying for all these years.
