Lionsgate to give Julius Caesar the 300 treatment with Emperor

Determined to keep on making movies until all of history is orange-tinted and glistening with sweat, 300 producers Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton have started developing a film based on the life of Roman dictator and A-number-one Ides hater Julius Caesar. Working with Lionsgate and fellow producers Matt Jackson and Nigel Sinclair, the duo are putting together an adaptation of Conn Iggulden’s Emperor series, which sees a young Caesar team up with his friend and eventual betrayer Marcus Brutus to go on exertion-heavy adventures, presumably without wearing much in the way of shirts.

The producers are promising that the new movie will be like, “Combining the sweep of 300 with the intrigue of Game Of Thrones,” which is either an indication that Emperor will spend some of its run time on Caesar’s political ambitions, or maybe just a coded message that means, “Lots of toga-adjacent nudity here, so come on in.”
