Literature gets a ”New Jacket,” offers up a new song
With Literature’s debut Arab Spring, the band added itself to a long lineage of twee indie-pop. It’s hard not to reference Belle & Sebastian when talking about Literature, as it’s always felt like the band has spent plenty of time looking to Stuart Murdoch for inspiration, while also worshipping at the reverb-pedal altar of Kevin Shields. On Literature’s newest album—its first for Slumberland Records—the band states its goal to craft that sort of catchy pop right there in the title, Chorus. Below The A.V. Club is premiering “New Jacket,” which is built around just the sort of invigorating, driving hook that would make Murdoch proud.
Chorus will be released August 19, but pre-orders can be had through Slumberland’s store.
