Liv Tyler’s character will return for the final season of The Leftovers

While Liv Tyler’s Meg Abbott was never a Leftovers fan favorite, the character was certainly better used in the show’s much-improved second season. And considering how prominently she figured into the final episodes, it’s unsurprising to learn from Digital Spy that Meg will return for the show’s third and final season. Tyler says that, although Meg is definitely coming back, the character’s purpose in the final set of episodes is still unclear, noting that showrunner Damon Lindelof is “secretive.” Presumably, Meg will cause more havoc for the heroes rather than returning to her tree-chopping glory days. Or maybe she’ll die and go to that big hotel in the sky, where she’ll stand silently and smoke through her karaoke selection of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.” After all, as The Leftovers continues to suggest, being dead doesn’t mean you can’t still make a point.
