Liza Weil confirms that Paris will also return to Gilmore Girls
Last week, it was announced that Matt Czuchry would be returning for the Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix, signaling probable defeat for the Rory/Jess shippers of the world. Now, Variety reports that the real true love of Rory’s life, Paris Geller, will be back in her life, too, as Variety reports that Liza Weil is confirmed to return to the show, unlike the neglected Melissa McCarthy. So start your engines, Paris/Rory shippers! All dozen of you.
Weil expressed excitement about the revival Tuesday at the aTVfest in Atlanta: “I start on Tuesday, which I really feel like bodes well that I get to start on a Tuesday being that we used to [air] on a Tuesday,” she said. Weil will appear in two of the four episodes in the revival, but she has only read one of the scripts so far. “It’s very emotional to read them,” she said. “It’s like a really magical perfect time machine. I’m very happy to be a part of it.”
In her time since Gilmore Girls, Weil has been bouncing around Shondaland, first with an arc on the first season of Scandal and then as a series regular on How To Get Away With Murder. For a second there, it seemed like her HTGAWM character, Bonnie Winterbottom, could possibly just be Paris Geller with a new identity and penchant for murder; we’ll have to wait for clues in the Gilmore Girls revival to see if that crazy crossover of our dreams becomes a reality.
In addition to Czuchry, Weil, and original showrunners Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel Palladino, Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Keiko Agena, and Yanic Truesdale will also return to Stars Hollow. Netflix has not announced a premiere date yet.
