Lizzy Caplan, Mary Elizabeth Winstead lead the shortlist for Deadpool 2
Mary Elizabeth Winstead received some bad news earlier this week when CBS canceled BrainDead, but she’s got quite the rebound in play—Collider reports that Winstead is on the shortlist to play Domino in Deadpool 2. But the 10 Cloverfield Lane actress has some stiff competition—she’s vying for the role alongside Lizzy Caplan, Sienna Miller, Mackenzie Davis, Sofia Boutella, and Ruby Rose, to name a few. Okay, we’ll list the rest: Eve Hewson (The Knick), Spectre’s Stephanie Sigman, Sylvia Hoeks (Dutch of the Dutch series Overspel), and Kelly Rohrbach, the latter of which is taking over for Pamela Anderson in the new Baywatch movie.
All of these actresses have tested for the role or will do so, but there’s currently no word on when production on the sequel will begin. But it makes sense to add Domino to the mix, what with Cable joining the fun (per Deadpool himself). Neena Thurman’s alter ego is also handy with a gun and quip, so she’ll probably be trading shots and jabs with Deadpool. One of her mutant powers allows her to manipulate the odds in her favor, similar to Longshot. Director Tim Miller hasn’t announced who’s playing Cable yet, but if Caplan is already in the running, we suggest casting Jon Hamm as the grizzled time-traveling mutant. We mean, they already have great chemistry.
