You can see Longlegs for free if you were born on the 14th of any month

Longlegs is continuing its excellent marketing campaign with a new scheme to get even more eyeballs on Nicolas Cage’s horrifying white face. If you’ve already seen Osgood Perkins’ buzzy horror film and want to come back not once, not twice, but as many times as you like (shudder), now you can—if you were born on the 14th of any month, that is. Anyone who’s already seen the film will know why Neon picked that specific date—and that it might be best to avoid the promotion entirely. It does sound like a mighty convenient way for Longlegs to square in on his next victim. If you haven’t seen the film and want to take Neon up on the freebie, just keep your wits about you and exercise extreme caution; and if you see any cryptic ciphers on your ticket, for the love of god run away.

For all the courageous (or stupid) folks out there, Neon is running the promo from August 1 (today) through 4. For these days, fans born on the 14th can purchase one free ticket to see Longlegs at the theater of their choice through Atom, an online vendor. All you need to do is enter the code “BIRTHDAY14” and maybe say a little prayer before clicking submit. Don’t ignore that second step; the fact that they’re not running the promo on the actual 14th seems like even more evidence that this might all be a trap. (Or maybe this writer is just a little too focused on the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan movie… who knows!)
