Looks like Harrison Ford can land his plane wherever he damn well pleases
In news that was probably met with a low growl and a muttered “whatever” from Harrison Ford, the FAA has decided it’s cool if the actor just wants to land his plane somewhere other than he’s supposed to, at least for this one time. Deadline reports an investigation into Ford’s actions—triggered by an incident in February of this year, when Ford mistakenly landed on a taxiway instead of a runway—has concluded, and the man who nearly died in a plane accident two years ago won’t face any disciplinary action. His lawyer released a statement saying, “In closing the matter, the agency acknowledged Mr. Ford’s long history of compliance with the federal aviation regulations and his cooperative attitude during the investigation,” which seems like an awfully long way of saying “we’re scared to death of him.”
Unfortunately, rather than slowing him down or (God forbid) making Harrison Ford reconsider this piloting thing in favor of a safer activity like doing bong rips on the couch while watching Planet Earth, this decision will likely only encourage the man. Which means you, too, might one day experience the thrill of having your plane taxiing to the gate, only to look up and see a confused Harrison Ford flying right over the top of your 737. Now that he knows he can fly wherever he wants, we look forward to the upcoming story of Ford landing on the White House lawn, or possibly doing loops through the St. Louis Gateway Arch.
